Licence

Updated 2026-09-30

Two licences, both short. The free charts are MIT. The paid themes come with a licence that lets you ship them in as many products as you like, and asks you not to hand the source to people who didn't buy it.

Free: MIT

The Instrument theme, the shared core, the colour tooling, each paid theme's free try-chart and the older recipe charts are MIT licensed. Use them anywhere, change them, sell what you build. Keep the licence file that comes with them.

What you can do

  • Use it in unlimited projects: your own, your employer's, your clients'.
  • Ship it inside products people pay for: apps, SaaS, dashboards, internal tools, marketing sites.
  • Change anything: colours, motion, layout, the whole source.
  • Use AI coding tools on your project while the source is in it.

What you can't do

  • Redistribute the paid source on its own, or repackage it as a component library, UI kit, template or chart builder.
  • Publish the paid source where others can copy it, such as a public repository or a gist.
  • Share your access token, or install for people outside your seats.
  • Use the paid source to train or prompt a model into producing a competing chart library.

Seats and teams

Individual covers 1 developer. Team covers up to 10 developers at one company, managed from one account. People who only use the finished product don't need a seat; people who write code with the components do.

Open-source projects

You can use paid charts in an open-source app, as long as the app is the point and the chart source isn't offered as something to reuse on its own. If you're unsure whether your project fits, ask before you publish.

How long it lasts

For ever, for what you've received. A single theme includes its updates. The Full Spectrum pack also includes every theme released within a year of your purchase; a renewal extends that window. If you ever stop paying, nothing you already have stops working.

Examples

  • A freelancer builds dashboards for five clients with one Individual licence. Fine.
  • A startup ships the charts in its SaaS and keeps the code in a private repo. Fine.
  • Someone publishes an npm package that wraps the paid charts. Not fine.
  • A template marketplace sells a dashboard template that includes the paid source. Not fine; ask us about a different licence.
