Licence

Effective 1 October 2026

This licence covers the source code, styles, assets and documentation distributed through Beautiful Charts (the "Items"). It is part of the Terms of Service between you and Chimpy.

1. Free Items

Free Items are licensed under the MIT License. The copyright notice must be kept in copies or substantial portions.

2. Pro Items

Pro Items are licensed, not sold. With a purchase that covers them, we grant you a worldwide (subject to applicable law), non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to use, copy and modify Pro Items to build End Products for yourself, your employer or your clients, in unlimited projects, including commercial ones and software-as-a-service.

An End Product is a website, app or software product in which the Items are part of a larger work with its own value, not the thing being offered. You may distribute Pro Items only as incorporated into permitted End Products, including necessary client source delivery and ordinary browser-delivered code; you may not offer them separately or as a reusable component collection. No attribution or royalties are required.

Seats. Except for client maintenance under section 4, a seat is needed for each named person who installs or edits Pro source. Reviewing an End Product without installing or editing that source doesn't need a seat. Your purchase states how many seats it includes. Seats can't be shared; a seat can move to a new person when someone leaves.

Updates. Your purchase includes the Items stated at checkout and the updates we publish while Beautiful Charts Pro is offered ("lifetime" means the period during which we offer Beautiful Charts Pro). We will give at least 90 days' notice of a planned discontinuation where reasonably practicable. Versions you lawfully downloaded stay licensed for permitted End Products.

3. What you may not do

You may not:

  1. redistribute, resell, sublicense, lend or share Pro Items, other than inside permitted End Products, including in a library, UI kit, template, theme, starter, boilerplate, design system, page builder, code generator or course, paid or free;
  2. make Pro source publicly available, except as section 5 allows (private repositories are fine);
  3. offer Pro Items to others through a registry, package, API, MCP server, agent skill, prompt library or other tool that lets people outside your licence get or reproduce them;
  4. use Pro Items to train or fine-tune AI models offered to others, or make them available to unlicensed people through datasets, indexes or reusable tooling. Using your own AI coding tools on your permitted projects is fine;
  5. use Pro Items to create a competing component library, UI kit, template collection or service whose main purpose is to distribute or give reusable access to them;
  6. remove or change licence or copyright notices in Pro source.

4. Client work

You may deliver End Products containing Pro Items to clients. We directly permit the client and its maintainers, without additional seats, to use, copy and modify the embedded Pro Items solely to operate and maintain that End Product; reusing them in another End Product needs the client's own licence.

5. Open source

You may include Pro Items in a public open-source application only if they are a small part of it, the application isn't itself a kit, template or component library, and the Pro files keep a notice that they are covered by the Beautiful Charts Licence and not by the project's open-source licence.

6. When the licence ends

A full refund of the price of a licensed purchase, or a final reversal of that payment (for example, a card dispute decided against the payment), ends that purchase's licence; a partial refund, a tax refund or the correction of a duplicate or excess charge does not. The licence can also end under section 11 of the Terms. When it ends, stop using the Pro Items in new work and delete unshipped copies under your control. Copies embedded in End Products you shipped in good faith before it ended may remain, and be maintained, as part of those End Products only.

7. Third-party materials

Third-party code and dependencies used by the Items stay under their own licences, which govern those materials; our restrictions apply only to rights we can lawfully restrict. Demo names, logos, photographs and other sample content aren't licensed for your End Products unless we say so.

8. Warranty, liability and enforcement

The warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability and indemnity in the Terms of Service apply to the Items. Use outside the rights this licence grants may be a breach of contract and, where applicable, an infringement of our intellectual property rights. Report suspected infringement of our work, or of yours by an Item, to support@beautifulcharts.dev.
